Rat and Roger
I got a Roger the Golem action figure to go with my Hellboy. They’re beating up aliens against a backdrop of SF anthologies on my bookshelf. I have photos, which I will upload imminently. I’m probably going to get Johann and Anonymous Alien Guy as well, since I really like the style of the figures and nobody else in Cape Town seems to want to buy them. Philistines.
Today, while reading in bed, Hodgestar informed me that Noether had been sniffing around my camera bag in a suspicious manner. The camera stands in a narrow gap between a built-in cupboard and a chest of drawers, with coats hanging above it. Hodgestar suggested that Noether might have chased some kind of small, crunchy creature in there.
I moved the camera aside, peered around the corner, and thought “Hmm, I can see a little wiggly tail; maybe it’s a lizar… HOLY CRAP, that’s an enormous rat!”
The rat took advantage of our moment of confusion and legged it out of the bedroom and into the kitchen, thereafter hopefully escaping to freedom through the back door and not going to ground under the refrigerator.
Noether is playing with a little fabric mouse behind me, feigning innocence.
Apart from that, I’ve been shamelessly reading in bed (I’ve almost finished both volumes of Legends II, an anthology I got only because it had GRRM’s The Sworn Sword in it), and thinking up interesting subplots for my campaign on Tuesday. I love it when the malevolent (or at least morally ambiguous) plotting of several groups of NPCs comes together in a tidy and aesthetically pleasing way.
And now, to upgrade my computer to Ubuntu Feisty. I hope nothing explodes.
Oh dear
There seem to be zombies shambling around in our front garden. That must be what all the gunshots earlier were about. Good thing this is South Africa; our burglar bars and security gate should be sufficient to keep them back. Failing that, there’s the crowbar (thanks, Philip!). I think all the cats are inside except Mercedes; I hope she doesn’t get eaten. It doesn’t look like they’re moving very fast, so it’s probably not a serious danger.
They’re dripping brains everywhere, and one zombie dude has just lost an arm. Ewww, seriously. That’s going to take ages to clean up.
More LARP photos…
Photos for the second Chrysalids LARP are up on my flickr page. Photos taken by me, Lara, me again and Beth (group photo).
